Want a favorite among favorites? Forced to make a choice of the room that I liked the best, it has to be Merlin. This year Bobby introduced a battery powered BAM, which is an outboard bass equalization module. If the battery runs down it's no problem as all one need to do is recharge the batteries while the unit plays on. This is an advancement of substance, and clearly audible. In the same room were the awesome, and I mean truly awesome, OTL tube power amplifiers by Joule Electra. I tell ya', this is the way tube amps were intended to sound - big, bold, dynamic. It took a good ol' boy like Jud Barber to design a tube amp so capable of expression and organic life. I always get a kick out of going to the Merlin room; if only Bobby and Jud would mix a Manhattan or two when I am there.

I want to say that I wholeheartedly agree with the assessments of RR regarding The Merlin/Joule Electra and the TG/CTC Audio rooms. He talked about them earlier, so I don't have to repeat that. Just know that these companies are consistently producing some of the finest audio equipment in the world, and compared to the pricing of like components, this stuff is value laden.
