The Merlin/Joule Electra Room was a real delight this year. I got to spend some time with my good audio friend Bobby Palkovic; as usual, he was spinning some great music through a pair of Jud Barber's 100 Watt monoblocks into his new Millennium loudspeakers. Good grief! What a major improvement since the days of the VSM/BAM, reviewed a couple of years ago in PF! The Millennium was really good.the bass extension was notable, and the sense of transparency and effortlessness in this combo was nothing less than major magic! Pinpoint imaging, yet spaciousness as well - and all this under show conditions. Bobby was delighted to hear my amazement in the improvement, and invited me to do a review of the Merlin/Joule Electra system. If we can work out the logistics with Jud, this just may happen.stay tuned. Meanwhile, I would have to say that the Merlin/Joule Electra room had some of the very best sound that I heard at CES 2001, bar none.
